Crazy Daisy & Mental Health
How does Crazy Daisy Contribute to Mental Health?
Beyond being a top floral design company, Crazy Daisy has a social mission with 3 main goals:
- To increase knowledge and awareness about mental health and wellness in the workplace.
- To decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness and help remove the barriers individuals experiencing mental illness face in gaining and retaining employment and thriving at work.
- To create meaningful training and work for psychiatric survivors and encourage more organizations to do the same.
We hope that the Crazy Daisy brand will grow to be a national symbol for mental health and wellness promotion and awareness.
Mental Health Knowledge and Awareness
With each floral arrangement, Crazy Daisy provides information about mental health including facts and figures about mental health and illness, tips to help employees and employers create a workplace environment that promotes greater mental wellness, and early warning signs of mental illness. By providing information along with our services, we hope to increase awareness of good practices for workplace mental health promotion and decrease the stigma associated with mental illness.
Facilitating Mental Wellness in the Workplace
Crazy Daisy is currently exploring opportunities and options for supporting and encouraging organizations to increase their mental health assets. This includes the most effective strategies/interventions for workplace mental health promotion and illness prevention, stigma reduction and disability management. Employment of Psychiatric Survivors
Psychiatric survivors can face significant barriers associated with their reintegration back into society. While 80% of employers believe that potential employees should disclose mental health problems prior to recruitment, less than 40% said they would employ someone with mental health problems. However, work can be a very positive experience for people recovering from mental illness.
Our ‘Crazy Daisy’, Sarah, speaks from experience when she describes how important meaningful work is for recovery from mental illness and prevention of relapse. As we grow, Crazy Daisy will provide a supportive work environment, meaningful work and a living wage for psychiatric survivors with an interest in floral design. Crazy Daisy employees will be able to realize balance in their lives – using their re-integration into work as another step on the path back to health and wellness.
